About Us
Welcome and Thank you for visiting Regional Director of Health Services, Kandy District
We are Government body established under the Provincial Council Parliment Act of 1989, the 13th amendment to the constitution. Office of Provincial Director of Health Sevices functions as the modarator with line Ministry, Provincial Health Ministry and other Government and Non Government institutions.
The department is responsible for the management and effective implementation of health services and The Regional Director is the head of the Regeonal Department of Health Services
The total population of Kandy district is 1,484,469 (2019 census) with the estimated population for 2019 being 1,502,283. The urban sector of Kandy district comprises of Kandy Municipal Council, Kadugannawa Urban Council, Gampola Urban Council, Nawalapitiya Urban Council and Wattegama Urban Council. The population of urban areas is 176,157 and it is 12.2 percent of the total population. And estate population is 98,048
Kandy district has a land area of 1916.2 square kilometers (sq.km). It has a population density of 715 persons per sq.km (2019).The population density of the urban area is 4,083 persons per sq.km.
